Fire clay is the most refractory of clays and has a very high thermal efficiency. It isoften used for improving other clay bodies. Acommon use is in pizza ovens and other high temperature applications. The pizza oven kit would make an oven the size of 80cm high and nearly a metre long, including tunnel and dome shape. Other designs might use more or less bricks. BELOW IS A BASIC INSTRUCTION YOU MAY WISH TO USE This kit should build a pizza oven of approximately 800mm diameter and 400mm high. To do this you will first need to lay a base of a suitable size using the fire bricks. You will then need to cut each of the remaining bricks in half to give you 114X114X76mm bricks. You then simply lay them around your oven using the mortar mix (see below) remembering to narrow in as you go up the courses. Some people find it easier to shape a mound of sand to act as a former on top of the base bricks to support the brick work. Remember to leave a suitable sized doorway to get your pizza in and out!
