Blue Lava Spectrum High Fire Glaze
Description
Spectrum’s Blue Lava cone 9/10 (1280°C-1305°C) is a high fire blue glaze, with a slight texture. This lead free, A/P non-toxic and dinnerware safe glaze gives a glossy, opaque finish at cone 9/10. This glaze is the perfect consistency for brushing on, we suggest 2 or 3 coats.
Spectrum's 1200 Series Stoneware Glazes come in a variety of colors and surface finishes. They are formulated to fire in oxidation in an electric kiln. They may be fired in reduction but results will vary- testing is recommended. All samples shown are oxidation fired.
1 pint/454ml - Brush-on
Working Notes
For best results fire 1280°C with a 30 minute soak on a computerised controller.
We recommend 2-3 coats for full coverage.
Different glazes from the same range can be layered to produce interesting and exciting results.
Health & Safety
Manufacturers Recommendations: Dinnerware Safe indicates the fired glaze surface meets the FDA standards for food safe, the fired surface is free of surface texture that could potentially trap bacterial, and the fired surface is chemically durable. Please note, dinnerware safety is not defined by cutlery scratches. Finished ware producers bear responsibility for dinnerware safe testing their ware being sold into commerce.
We at Bath Potters will quote the manufacturers recommendations, but if you intend to make ceramic dinnerware with selling in mind, then you would be best advised to get your wares tested.
