Cerulean Spectrum Celadon Glaze
Description
Semi-transparent cone 4/6 (1180°C-1240°C) glazes are the complement to detailed ware and offer a wide-range of color offerings with a focus on the many faces of celadons in an electric oxidation environment. All are non-toxic and dinnerware safe. Celadons are good choices for those potters who wish to have a light, flowing color for their pieces. They are translucent enough to allow you to see decorative work such as underglaze designs through the glaze. These glazes are ready mixed in brush-on form.
The final appearance of the glaze is dependent on firing temperature, glaze thickness and the composition of the clay body being used. The sample shown has 3 coats of glaze brushed on a white clay and is fired to cone 5 in an electric kiln.

Working Notes
Celadons glazes should be brushed lightly in order to achieve an even sheen. Layering the glaze or allowing it to pool will lead to a darker tone.
Use in combination with other glazes, such as Spectrum's 1100 Stoneware Series for an even wider effect.
Health & Safety
Manufacturers Recommendations: Dinnerware Safe indicates the fired glaze surface meets the FDA standards for food safe, the fired surface is free of surface texture that could potentially trap bacterial, and the fired surface is chemically durable. Please note, dinnerware safety is not defined by cutlery scratches. Finished ware producers bear responsibility for dinnerware safe testing their ware being sold into commerce.
We at Bath Potters will quote the manufacturers recommendations, but if you intend to make ceramic dinnerware with selling in mind, then you would be best advised to get your wares tested.
