Firing Range: 1080°C-1220°C
ES75 Smooth Textured Terracotta Crank is prepared to the same high standards as ES65 Terracotta Crank but offers a closer texture and smoother surface. It will take surface detail well, can be used as a coarse throwing body and is excellent for slabbing, handbuilding and tiles. Superb crank body. Coarsely grogged. Tremendous plasticity. Excellent for creating garden pots. Can be fired to stoneware.

"This is a nice clay to throw with and not too abrasive on the hands. I wanted to make some frost resistant decorative flowerpots for the garden and managed to centre and throw 10 lbs on my wheel. It's a very stable clay and I was surprised how thin I managed to get the walls of the pot without it collapsing. I did a single firing at 1150°C, which is nearer to stoneware then earthenware. This left it reasonably vitrified but still keeping that light terracotta colour with a fine sandy texture. The only downside is that it takes ages to dry. After two weeks in the house I ended up drying them in my kitchen fan oven (when the wife wasn't looking) and gradually increasing the temperature 120° C to make sure there was no moisture left."
