Description
Ocean Spray is a light, airy Milton Bridge Studio Line 'By the Sea' reactive stoneware glaze, designed to create soft sea-foam colour, glossy depth and naturally varied kiln-fired effects. This reactive stoneware glaze gives ceramic pieces a fresh coastal finish, with pale blue-white tones and subtle movement.
Its gentle ocean-inspired appearance makes it a lovely choice for functional pottery and decorative ceramics where you want a clean, calm glaze with a little natural character. Ocean Spray works well on mugs, bowls, vases, dishes and textured stoneware, especially where surface detail can show off the reactive variation.
- Colour & finish: Pale sea-foam blue-white with glossy reactive variation and soft tonal movement
- Firing range: Cone 4–9, approx. 1180–1280 °C
- Best for: Functional pottery, coastal ceramics, mugs, bowls, vases, dishes and textured stoneware
- Application: Stir well, then apply 2–3 even coats by brush, sponge or stamp, allowing each coat to dry
- Food safety: Food safe when fired to the manufacturer’s recommended temperature

Reactive glazes can vary depending on application thickness, firing temperature and clay body. For best results, test first and avoid applying too heavily near the base of pots, as the glaze may move during firing.
Working Notes
For best results, apply evenly to bisque-fired ware and allow each coat to dry thoroughly before applying the next. Reactive glazes can behave differently depending on the surface texture, application thickness and kiln conditions, so testing is strongly recommended before using on larger batches or customer pieces.
Note: Reactive glaze results will vary from piece to piece. Colour movement, breaking, pooling and surface variation are part of the character of this glaze range. Always test first.
