These wooden printing blocks are hand carved in India by skilled craftsmen using traditional techniques. They are made from Sheesham wood which is golden brown to deep brown in colour with darker streaks that give the wood an attractive appearance. After finishing each piece is dipped in white paint to prove the design – this is the pattern you can see on the block.

Using and Caring for Your Wood Blocks

The wooden printing blocks work well with a variety of paints including acrylics, poster paints and inks. Dip the block into the paint or apply the paint to the blocks with a sponge – then get creative! For best results use a hard flat surface behind the paper or fabric that you want to print on. When finished, wash the blocks with soap and water (an old toothbrush or nailbrush is useful!) then dry off with an old towel - the blocks will be ready for the next project.

Each stamp is hand carved, so small details may vary in each stamp.
