Description

1230°C (1st image):  Tidal Wave is a glossy, semi-opaque white glaze that breaks over texture. Contains blue crystals. Base color is stable, crystals can create movement.

1300°C (2nd image): Tidal Wave changes to a glossy blue. Heavy crystal application may effect color results and movement.

TIP: Tidal Wave uses SW223 Milk Glass as the base. Upon opening, crystals will be concentrated in the bottom of the bottle. Stir/shake thoroughly to incorporate before each use. Crystals can create movement. Avoid having a heavy concentration of crystals near the bottom of your piece. When storing a crystal glaze, you may consider storing upside down to make crystal more accessible.

Stoneware crystal glazes are designed to expand upon the surface with dazzling bursts of color. Fired results will vary based on ware’s orientation. Crystals will settle to the bottom of the jar and will need a good mixing prior to initial use. Re-stir between each coat. Stir with palette knife or other unpainted tool. Avoid placing crystals near the bottom third of a vertical piece as they may cause additional movement during firing. Crystals will flow more than the base glaze. While the glaze is wet, use your fan brush to redistribute the crystals to achieve balanced coverage. Over-application or heavy deposition of the crystals can cause pinholing or running. When storing a crystal glaze, you may consider storing upside down to facilitate crystal dispersion on the next use.

Size: 473ml Brush on liquid glaze.

Health & Safety

Manufacturers Recommendations: Not Suitable for Dinnerware due to Surface Durability indicates the fired glaze surface may not be desirable to use a particular glaze for dinnerware even though it has passed the food safe testing process. Much of this is due to the fired glaze surface being impacted by contact with acidic food or liquids. Please note, dinnerware safety is not defined by cutlery scratches.
