User Instructions
Underglaze colours may be applied on to clay ware (green hard), or onto biscuit ware using universal medium. Mixing of colour and media must be very thorough and is best achieved by working the colour into the media using a pallet knife in a rubbing or lapping action. If sufficient flux is added, colours an stains can be made self-glazing and matt colours developed. Powder colours mixed with universal medium provide the cheapest an the most usual way of applying underglaze decoration. Glaze and body stains are normally used for the preparation of coloured glazes (5-8% addition) or coloured slips (10-18% addition) followed by sieving through 120's mesh.
